Focus and Scope

Wayamba Journal of Animal Science (WJAS) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal published by the Society of Animal Science, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The journal publishes novel and original research articles, invited reviews, letters to the editor and other scholarly work encompassing a broad range of research topics in animal production and productivity; genetics and breeding; nutrition; physiology and functional biology; animal welfare; health management; preparation, utilization and quality of animal products, and livestock farming systems. Articles typically report research with dairy and beef cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, poultry (chicken, turkey, duck, goose, guinea fowl, pigeon, etc.), and companion animals; however, studies involving other farm animals and laboratory animal species that address fundamental questions related to livestock will also be considered. WJAS is an essential reading for all animal scientists, industrialists, technologists, policy makers and other relative stakeholders interested in animal production.

Publication Frequency

Wayamba Journal of Animal Science publishes one issue a year.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There is no embargo on the journal’s publications.

Archiving Policy

This journal is available for LOCKSS harvesting, to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. See LOCKSS harvesting start page.
